The National Glass Centre Foundation was founded in 1982 when a group of Segovians aware of the historical legacy and prestige of this universally recognized art, decided to restore the building of the old Royal Crystal and Glass Factory of La Granja, a location long associated with the tradition of glassmaking and its related activities including the somewhat forgotten branch of the decorative arts.
The National Glass Centre Foundation was recognized/acknowledged?? by Ministerial Order dated September 28th, 1989 (BOE 10.09.1989) and entered in the Cultural Foundation Register of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, number 241, in agreement with Law 30/1994 of November 24th, Foundations and Tax Incentives for Private Participation in Activities of General Interest.
The aims of the foundation are the promotion, development, teaching, research and dissemination of the craft of glassmaking, including the history of glass manufacture and artistic and other cultural and scientific activities related to glass.
